Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Sweating is necessary to control body temperature. Sweating is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. In hyperhidrosis, this system is overactive, causing sweating to occur at inappropriate times in specific areas of the body. This can occur in many different areas of the body, most commonly on the hands, feet and armpits. It can also occur on the face, the head, the groin and the back.
